Dale named Region I Coach of the Year
Kenny Dale was named Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Region I Men's Soccer Coach of the Year Tuesday.
This is Dale's first time winning the award in his eight-year career at Arizona Western. Dale's team has already secured the team record for overall wins and broken the record for conference wins in a season with an overall record of 18-2. The Matadors are second in the ACCAC in both goals scored (77) and goals allowed (16).
Mats to host Chandler-Gilbert in Region I semifinals
For the third straight season, the Arizona Western soccer team will host the second round of the Region I playoffs.
The Matadors face fourth-seeded Chandler-Gilbert at 6 p.m. Thursday at AWC soccer field.
Arizona Western (18-2 overall and ACCAC) beat Chandler-Gilbert 2-1 in the regular season opener and 4-3 on Sept. 24. The Coyotes advanced on a 2-1 win over sixth-seeded Paradise Valley in penalty kicks on Tuesday.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for AWC and NAU-Yuma students.

McEvoy named Player of the Week
Arizona Western College quarterback Tanner McEvoy was named the Western States Football League Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Matadors to a 78-20 win over Mesa Community College on Saturday.
McEvoy was 17 for 20 passing and threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in less than three quarters.
This is the second time McEvoy has earned the award this season, with the Matadors scoring at least 60 points in both weeks that he took home the award.
McEvoy upped his completion percentage to 64.8 percent, his total yards to 1,267 and has 17 touchdowns with only three interceptions on the year.
Matadors stay No. 4 in poll
Although the Matadors defeated Mesa Community College by 58 points Saturday, Arizona Western College remains fourth in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association football poll.
No. 1 Iowa Western Community College came in nearly 25 points higher than the Matadors (180.5) at 205.
Butler (Kan.) Community College remained No. 2 and East Mississippi stayed at No. 3. Arizona Western did not receive a first-place vote.
The Matadors will face Glendale Community College Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. The full NJCAA rankings can be found on D3.
JUCO VOLLEYBALL
Matador game to air on MATSN
The Matador volleyball game against Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday will be broadcast live on the Matador Sports Network.
This is the fifth consecutive year that MATSN has televised AWC volleyball.
The Matadors (9-4 in ACCAC) are in a four-team race to clinch the top two postseason spots for the Region I Division I playoffs. Eastern Arizona (10-5) are playing their final regular season match.
