Pee Wee team loses, juniors still kicking

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Yuma Pee Wee Scorpions' season fell a win short of the national tournament in a 22-7 loss to the San Diego Lakeside Longhorns, the defending national champs Saturday.

Despite the loss, the Scorpions were invited to a bowl game, also in San Diego.

The junior team topped the San Diego Tierrasanta Gold Cougars 14-6 in overtime. The team faces the Orange Empire County Pasadena Trojans noon Saturday at Central High School in San Diego in the semifinals. The farthest the team can go is the Wescon Pop Warner Championship in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. - there is no Jr. Pee Wee national game.
