Edmonton pulls out win in 9th
Comments 0 | Recommend 0EDMONTON, Alberta - Yuma scored first in the second and took a two-run lead after six innings, but Yuma's bullpen faltered in the ninth as Edmonton scored three in the final frame for a 5-4 victory.
Jeremy Cleveland scored the first run of the game with a second-inning home run to left center. The Scorpions (26-21) answered two Cracker Cats (26-24) runs - one each in the third and fourth - with two in the fifth and a final run in the sixth.
Evan White, Yuma's starting pitcher, gave up seven hits and two runs in five innings. Then Mike Martin replaced Tyler Pearson after allowing two hits in the sixth, and took the Scorpions lead all the way to the ninth allowing one hit.
Pitching in just the ninth inning, James Garcia lost the game allowing three runs on three hits.
The Scorpions continue their series with the Cracker Cats tonight at 6 p.m.
The Cracker Cats win took the lead in this back and forth series with the fourth game on Sunday. Yuma continues its Canadian tour starting Monday with three in Calgary.
