LOCAL GLANCE December 23: Prep Wrestling

San Luis had five wrestlers place in the top 10 at the El Cajon Invite Saturday, including Carlos Urquijo (220) who earned a first-place finish.

Urquijo was 5-0 on the day with two pins and was named the most outstanding wrestler of the upper weight divisions according to San Luis head coach Rob Jankowski.

“Carlos looked good, wrestled hard and transitioned from move to move very well,” Jankowski said. “He was dominating from the first to last match.”

The other top finishers for the Sidewinders were Juan Colacion (126) and Nick Egas (138) who finished eighth and Bryan Vuniga (145) who finished 6th. There were 32 total teams competing.

“Overall we took 13th or 14th as team,” Jankowski said. “Out of 32 teams that's not bad.”
