Cibola knocked out of playoffs

It was a story of two halves for the Cibola girls basketball team as the Raiders lost 64-39 at Mountain View Marana in the first round of the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division I state playoffs.

The game was back-and-forth in the first half, which ended at 25-25. However, the Raiders fell cold from the field in the second half — shooting 6 for 24 from the field and 2 for 11 from the free-throw line in the final two quarters.

“We didn't shoot the ball well and didn't take care of the ball and it snowballed from there,” said Cibola coach Justin Hager.

Senior post Alexis Evans had eight points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

The Raiders (13-6) shot 14 for 22 in the first half.

“It's the state tournament. You have to play four quarters and we played two,” Hager said.
