Last game: AWC beat Eastern Utah for the second time in as many weeks on Friday, a 63-49 win in the Desert Classic '09. Yavapai defeated Anoka Ramsey 79-69 Friday at the Classic for its first win of the season.

Player to watch: Matador freshman Tyrisha Blake had 10 points in Friday's win, including a 6-for-8 performance at the foul line. ... Lerrin Cook led the Roughriders with 22 points in Friday's win.
AWC coach Patrick Cunningham's comments: "It's the same old story. They know us well and we know them well, and we'll see who executes. We're trying to get a bunch of new players to understand the importance of conference play. The games in November are just as important as the ones in February."
The lowdown: After getting a first-hand look at each other for two days last week, AWC and Yavapai take the court to begin their ACCAC schedules. ...Amanda Rawlings and Marisa Morais did not practice Tuesday (flu-like symptoms) and are questionable for the game. ...Roughrider forward Dee Adsitt had three of the team's seven 3-point treys vs. Anoka Ramsey. ...Yavapai is loaded with sophomores who will remember losing all three meetings to AWC last year, including a buzzer-beater in their conference opener and an overtime defeat in the Region I Semifinals in Yuma.
