Garcia named to first team All-ACCAC

Arizona Western College second baseman and Kofa High alum Giovanni Garcia was named to the All-ACCAC first team and All-Region I second team on Tuesday.

Garcia spent a year away from baseball before his sophomore season at AWC. A transfer from South Mountain Community College, he led the Matadors in batting average (.369), hits (65), runs (41) and stolen bases (18) and four other offensive categories.

Garcia was a big part of AWC's final two wins, scoring the only run in a 1-0 victory against Eastern Arizona and going 4-for-5 with four RBI in Game 2's 17-4 rout of the Gila Monsters.
