ON DECK: Lazy story lines

A lot of commentators have talked about how the Tigers had such a long rest while the Giants played almost immediately after their NLCS.

A lot of commentators will tell you that it matters.

Well, they would have told you it matters either way.

If the Tigers had come out and stomped the Giants in Game 1, it would have been obvious that the extra rest helped Verlander and the Tiger hitters while the Giants were exhausted from having to win three straight games, staving off elimination.

When the Giants won instead (by a wide margin I might add) the story lines were all about how the Tigers were idle for too long. Verlander forgot what a baseball was and the long layoff affected them negatively. The Giants were hot, and stayed hot, riding their momentum to blowout victory.

Basically, either way the story is all hogwash. Don't waste your time with lazy story lines that don't matter. The only story line that matters is who wins.
