ON DECK: Open golf challenge to my readers
I haven’t played a round of golf in a long time.
And I haven’t played a serious round of golf my entire life.
That’s why I decided to issue an open, Andy Kaufman-style challenge. If there is a person over the age of 60 who enjoys hitting the links, I’m talking to you.
I’m challenging the first person to email or call me to one round of golf — allowing me a little time on the putting green and the driving range to get the rust off.
Unless I have the game of my life, it could be your chance to wipe the greens with a young buck and I will possibly write a column about our experience — good, bad or ugly.
I consider myself a relatively average golfer. I know how to hit the ball, but my drives aren’t about to make you drop your club in amazement. So if you’re up to the “challenge,” let me know.
After we’re done, loser buys the winner a beer.
