Hawks sweep Raiders

Gila Ridge volleyball swept Cibola 25-11, 25-23, 25-11 on Tuesday.

It was a balanced effort, with Allison Weller striking two aces, four kills and six digs for the Hawks.

On the defensive side, Anahai Torres led Gila Ridge with 11 digs while on offense Alana Harman had a team-high seven kills for the Hawks..

“It was a good all around effort,” Gila Ridge coach Colleen Ford said.

Harvest Prep wins conference

Harvest Prep's middle school flag-football team secured its conference championship last week as they defeated Immaculate Conception 36-6 in the final game of their season.

Using a simplified version of Harvest Prep High's playbook, coach Joe Lojpersberger says it's a great building block for the kids.

"It's a great transition for our students coming from junior high to high school," Lojpersberger said. “They're able to start practicing at the varsity level and understand the playbook.”
