ON DECK: Pastor Jones a true NASCAR fan
While photographing the Yuma Catholic football game Friday night I crossed paths with Shamrocks statistician Tyrone Jones.
And he asked, “You aren’t a Kyle Busch fan, are you?”
I wondered why Tyrone Jones would ask this question because although I’ve known him for a while, not once has one of our conversations touched on NASCAR.
Then he asked who my favorite driver was, and try as I might to remember Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s name, I couldn’t. I replied, “The driver who won the Nationwide championship last year.”
And Tyrone said, “Ricky Stenhouse Jr.”
And I said, “For someone to know that, you must be a NASCAR fan.”
He said he was indeed. In fact, Pastor Tyrone Jones of the Calvary Temple of Christ said he is such a fan that on Sundays his congregation knows he cannot get the last “amen” over with fast enough so he can get home to watch that day’s race.
Now, that’s a NASCAR fan!
