ON DECK: March Madness a segue to baseball season
As you probably have realized by now, I don't like March.
It's pretty much the last hurdle between me and real baseball, so it seems to drag on forever. And ever. And ever.
There is a fun distraction the past few weeks, however, and that would be the NCAA tournament.
I'm not a huge college basketball fan, but I follow it close enough. Going to a Division II school, I've never had a dog in the fight, but for some reason as soon as you write down on a meaningless piece of paper that you think one team you know nothing about is going to beat another team you know nothing about, that's enough to get you emotionally involved.
I've done pools for money, pools for fun and no matter how little I know, I can't think of a better time in sports than the first couple rounds of the tournament.
After that period, though, my bracket's usually busted and my interest once again wanes, but by then I'm OK, because it's baseball season.
