On Deck: Mayweather-Pacquiao fight won't happen
Comments 0 | Recommend 0North Carolina has never played Duke in an NCAA title game for basketball. Furthermore, there's never even been an NCAA title game in football.
Tiger Woods has never faced Phil Mickelson during any of the PGA major events. In tennis, no meaningful match has been played between Pete Sampras and Roger Federer.
Dana White was never able to sign Fedor Emelianenko, so there was never a heavyweight bout between him or Randy Couture.
So why does everybody think that Floyd Mayweather, Jr. will face Manny Pacquiao?
Sure, the bout will make money. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said he thinks the bout can sell 5 million pay-per-views.
But how will that money be split? Mayweather's camp says his side wants at least 60 percent. No one should be surprised, his name is Money Mayweather.
Put that together with the fact that Mayweather has never faced a true southpaw and you've got the makings of a non-existant bout. Mayweather likes money, but he also hates losing.
Woods-Mickelson, Fedor-Couture, Mayweather-Pacquiao.
None of those will happen.
