PREP BASEBALL
Bazua pitches one-hitter for San Luis
Alex Bazua tossed a one-hitter as San Luis romped Calexico 11-0 on Thursday.
Bazua went all five innings, walking one and hitting one batter.
Jonathan Bazua went 2 for 3 and scored three times, and Alejandro Aguilar went 2 for 2 and drove in three.
YC crushes Tonopah
Sam Atiyeh hit a home run and Jaime Montanez drove in five as Yuma Catholic routed Tonopah 17-0 on Thursday.
Alex Senini and Alex Olsen each had three hits and drove in two runs. Montanez added three hits.
Cibola wins in 10
Noel Armenta drove in what turned out to be the winning runs in Cibola's 6-4 win at El Centro-Central in 10 innings on Wednesday.
Caeden Ethington started the 10th off with a single and scored on Armenta's single. Adan Vega scored an insurance run on a sacrifice fly by Alan Vega.
Ethington pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Ronnie Flores pitched the third through eighth innings, allowing one run.
Cibola led 3-0 but gave up three in the third and one in the fourth. The Raiders tied the game in the seventh on a Oscar Elizarraras single that scored Zebastian Valenzuela — who hit one of his two doubles in a 3 for 5 day. Tim Frost added two hits and drove in two for Cibola.
PREP SOFTBALL
Kofa falls in Vegas
Miranda Mendoza pitched a five-hitter but it wasn't enough as Kofa lost at the Las Vegas-Bishop Gorman tournament 1-0 to the hosts.
Sally Gastelo had a double, and Sarai Camacho and Caila Mackabee had singles for the only Kofa hits.
Shamrocks edge Tonopah
Yuma Catholic got plenty of offense and beat Tonopah Vallety 12-10 on Thursday.
Gabrielle Rowlinson picked up the win while striking out 10 and went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
Josie Quiroz and Melissa Bustamante each had 3 RBIs and Amanda Milnick had six stolen bases.
PREP TENNIS
Gila Ridge backups trounce Antelope
Using all junior varsity players, the Gila Ridge boys tennis team swept Antelope 9-0 on Thursday.
Kyle Land, Max Williams, Jake Boughton, Jordan Zamora, Alavaro Garcia and Ross Wofford picked up singles wins. Hayden Harmon teamed with Zamora for a doubles win.
