Yuma Pee Wee Scorpions take 9-0 mark to playoffs

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Yuma Pop Warner Pee Wee Scorpions have been undefeated throughout the season posting a 9-0 record and only 36 points scored against them the entire season. Presently, they hold the Imperial Valley Pop Warner Pee Wee title and are heading to the regional playoffs with three games to play the next three Saturdays to get to the National Playoffs in Orlando, Fla., tentatively scheduled for Dec. 5.

Several players on this year's squad played on last year's junior pee wee team that advanced to the regional finals.

This Saturday in the regional playoffs the Scorpions will face off as home team against the San Diego Pop Warner Pee Wee team, the Lakeside Longhorns, at 1 p.m. in El Centro, Calif., at Central High, 1001 W. Brighton Ave. If the Scorpions shut down the Longhorns, then San Diego is the next stop for the second regional round against another Wescon Region contender on Nov. 14. If successful in  round two, then it is off to Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., for the Wescon Regional championship game on Nov. 21.

Upon making it to the national playoffs, the Scorpions need some help to make the trip. The cost per player will run the team approximately $1,300 per player. Presently, the Scorpions do have one sponsor, Cradic Chiropractic, however, it will take several more to meet the financial demand.

Any business wishing to commit to the support in these efforts, please call Yuma Pop Warner Association President Carolyn Householder at 928-726-9305, Pee Wee Scorpions manager Dana Bash at 928-783-4979 or Teri Gleason at 928-276-4866.
