Bugarin draws even to win men's club tourney

Daryl Bugarin posted an even-par 72 to win first place gross in the Desert Hills Men’s Club tournament on Saturday morning. Second place gross went to Bobby Contreras at 77 with Tony Zendejas and Bill Bort tied for third place at 78.

Gary Gist was the net winner at 66 with Hank Sego taking second net one stroke back.

- On Feb. 10, the Contreras Family is sponsoring the John V. Contreras Memorial Two-Person Scramble to be played at the Desert Hills Golf Course. - Marilyn and Jerry Denny teamed with Colleen and Art Scott for a gross score of 64 to win the gross division of “Willies” weekly couple’s play at Mesa del Sol on Sunday afternoon. First place net went to Darla and Willie Peterson and Joan and Doug McCook with a 63.

Karen and Bill Griffith and Dixery and Keith Searingen were the second place net winners at 65.

- Don Wooten teamed with Larry Nicholson, A. Goforth and Jerry Jensen to win the Las Barrancas Men’s play on Thursday afternoon. Second place went to Joe Ganim, Jim Kerlee, and Don Paden.

- Marlene and Chuck Wallace were the top winners in the Las Barrancas couples play on Friday afternoon. Second place went to Sheila and Dan Skubby. Players that wish to participate in the Las Barrancas men’s play on Thursday or the couples play on Friday should contact golf professional Bobby King at the Las Barrancas pro shop.

- Jim Teem carded 24 pro-power points to carry teammates Bob Tedder, Jim Barber and Tom Mozley to a first place finish in the Mesa del Sol MGA tournament on Friday morning. Second place went to the team of Reg Marshall, Don Foster, Bill Devereux, and Bob Porter.

- Connie Chapman, Claudia Campbell, Madeline Waters, Dianne McGrath, Jacki Renfro, Carol Foye, Elaine Davis and Rosanna Conley from the Yuma Country Club defeated teams from Barbara Worth, Calif., and Del Rio, Calif., on Monday at the club.

- Lynn Barber posted a net score of 71 to win the A-Flight of the Mesa del Sol Lady Hustlers “No T’s and No F’s” tournament on Monday morning. Second place went to Kathy Funk with a 79. Joan Costella won the B-Flight with Carol Roland winning second place.

- Joan Kossey was the A-Flight gross winner in the Mesa del Sol Ladies WGA tournament on Thursday morning with Kathy Funk winning first place net. First place gross in the B-Flight went to Joann Sandstede with Carol Roland winning first net.

- Dona Chamber shot a low-net 63 to win the Cocopah Bend Women’s “Ace Of The Month” play on Wednesday morning. Judy Flanders won the A-Flight low gross with Penny Cash winning the low net. The remaining flight gross and net winners were Loreen Carr and Connie Strain, and Sally Hogan and Gina Brown, and Martha Weisler and Della Karr, and Laura Klein and Bernie Sharp.

- John Meyer won first place gross in the A-Flight of the Cocopah Bend MGA tournament on Monday morning with Vern Hoeksema winning second place. Fred Visser was the top net winner with Doug Anderson winning second net.

The remaining flight gross and net winners were: Jerry Witteveen and Al Thomas, and Jim Gray and Stan Dagneau, and Ken Engle and Ted Gilmore, and Hugh Magee and Pat Feist.

- Hobo Amick and Don Holeman were the top gross team winners in the Desert Hills Hustler’s play on Wednesday morning with David Givens and Jim Tuttle winning second place. Cliff Thornburg and Jim McDonald were the net winners. The skin winners were Gerry McMahan, Tony Brullo, Amick, Dave Belcher, Jim McDonald, Jim McElroy, Givens, Lynn Thomas and Cliff Thornburg.

- Bill Slade, Bob Tedder, Bill Price, Johnie Schiemer, and Hugh Peterson posted 102 pro-power points to win first place in the “Krogman Follies” play on Wednesday morning at Mesa del Sol.

- Audrey Sandau won first place gross in the A-Flight of the Country Club Ladies play on Thursday morning with Donna parker winning second gross. Sharon Anderson won the net division.
