PREP WRESTLING
Yuma High places six
The Criminals placed six wrestlers at the Payson Invitational Saturday.
Trenton Haile (126) earned sixth place, Kody Doerr (106), Leo Salcedo (113) and Andreus Gomez (220) placed fifth, Carlos Vargas (145) placed 4th and Kade Cottenbrook (138) placed second.
The Criminals will get back at it Wednesday in the City Championships.
Raiders place five
The Raiders placed five wrestlers at the Flowing Wells Invitational Saturday
Isaac Camarillo (126) placed sixth, Alexander Juarez (113) placed fourth, Josh Olson (106) and Vicente Guerrero (170) placed 3rd and Pierre Gaud placed second.
“It was more of a learning experience,” said Raider coach Mike Jankowski. “We learned a couple of things about ourselves so now our aim is towards the state title.”

Hawks win fourth in a row
After dropping their first seven games, Gila Ridge is now on a four-game winning streak after beating Paradise Valley 4-2.
Hawks junior captain Sheridan Smith had three goals and Celeste Diaz had one.
“It's clicking now,” said Gila Ridge coach John Gronbach. “The players are starting to trust each other, passes are more accurate and they're buying into the new system.”
