The Raiders comfortably played themselves into the championship of the Boulder Creek Tournament in Anthem.

Cibola defeated Skyline 9-0 in five innings and took out Maricopa 16-0 in four innings. Both games ended early because of time restrictions.

Jackie Pierson threw all five innings of the Raiders' win over Skyline, allowing one hit and striking out nine. Cracia Villa (2 for 3) and Bethany Olea (1 for 3) each hit home runs for the Raiders in the win.

Against Maricopa, Lezlie Morris didn't allow a hit and struck out five in four innings of work and also went 3 for 4 at the plate. Mariah Caro went 2 for 4 with a home run and Olea went 2 for 3.

The Raiders play in the championship at 1 p.m. today against Xavier.

PREP GIRLS TENNIS

Gila Ridge tops Yuma

The Gila Ridge girls tennis team won its season opener on Thursday, defeating Yuma High 9-0.

Katlyn Jones defeated Ariana Calderon 6-3, 6-1 and Tayler McKenna topped Angelica Urquidez 6-0, 6-2.

Alice Fiddler beat Yuma's Jenny Johnson 6-1, 6-0.

Liz Ray defeated the Crims' Rebecca Garcia 7-6, 6-2.

In doubles action, Jones and McKenna defeated Johnson.

PREP BOYS TENNIS

Raiders-Hawks postponed

Due to Friday's high winds, the tennis match between Cibola and Gila Ridge was postponed.

The match has been rescheduled for March 26.
