Yuma High boys take first in Brawley
Rodolfo Alvarado’s second-place finish paced the Yuma High cross country team as the Criminals won the boys three-way meet against Brawley and Yuma Catholic in Brawley on Thursday.
The Criminals finished with a score of 31, the Shamrocks took second with a score of 36 and Brawley took third with 58.
Yuma Catholic’s top finisher was Nico Fracno, who took third. Brawley’s Carlos Flores won the race.
As for the girls teams, Brawley took first with 26, Yuma Catholic took second with 45 and Yuma High placed third with 58.
Louise Scholle finished second for Yuma Catholic and Yuma High’s Eliana Niteletfinished fourth. Brawley’s Kalyn Gutierrez won the girls race.

Monsters top Warriors
Gila Bend picked up a 25-10, 25-12, 23-25, 25-19 road win at San Pasqual on Thursday.
Gina Rivera had three kills and seven aces and Larissa Mills had four kills and four aces for the Warriors.
San Pasqual plays at Calipatria on Tuesday.
Kings stage comeback to beat Sidewinders
Kofa topped San Luis 23-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13, 15-12 on Thursday.
“My team has a lot, a lot of heart,” Kofa coach Brittany Garcia said. “We came back from a two game loss, so it just shows that we never, ever give up.”
Jasmine Ortiz and Miranda Brookhart each had 14 kills in the match. Brookhart also had 29 digs. Maggie Galvan picked up 32 assists on the night.
Parker tops Antelope
The Broncs beat the Rams 25-11, 25-19, 25-7.
“It was a rough one,” Antelope coach Anna Delgado said. “We play them again on Tuesday, so hopefully that game will go better.”
