ON DECK: Turkey Classic

I look forward to Thanksgiving, sitting down with family and friends, enjoying turkey and all the trimmings.

Nowadays, I also look forward to my special Thanksgiving dessert: the annual Turkey Classic at Cocopah Speedway, a two-night event that unfolds Friday and climaxes Saturday.

This year, however, the 50-lap feature on Saturday is gone, replaced by a 25-lapper on Friday and a 35-lap showcase event Saturday.

I have to be honest, I don't like changing tradition, but this new format is going to be cool, and it will be fun watching how the whole thing shakes out. Heck, I'm excited about just getting to see Pro-Stocks qualify.

On top of all that, we've got some drivers in Yuma, each with a good chance to win it all, which raises the excitement meter when one considers we haven't had a local winner, yet. And as usual, some big dogs are headed here from California, Nevada, Colorado, Oregon and Texas.

Mix it all up and one word comes to mind: Yummy!
