ON DECK: Cocopah Speedway 2013 schedule could be very exciting
The Grand Canyon State is all abuzz with the NASCAR Chase to the Sprint Cup coming to Phoenix International Raceway this weekend.
Me? Not so much. What has me excited is the tentative 2013 racing schedule at Cocopah Speedway that I got a peek at this week. All I can say is if all of the dates firm up, it's going to be an exciting season.
Keep in mind, this is all tentative, but still worth drooling over are these morsels: The IMCA Winter Nationals for Modifieds is back and it's been expanded to a three-day show (Feb. 7, 8 and 9); the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour sprint car opener is scheduled March 1 and 2; the Lucas Oil Short Course Off-Road Series and Monster Trucks are scheduled June 8; and a much-requested demolition derby is scheduled July 4, with fireworks.
If anybody thought Greg Burgess, Cocopah Speedway's director of operations, couldn't out-do what he put together this season, think again.
