AWC scoreless streak ends, win streak hits 6

Mario Soto scored his third game-winning goal of the year as Arizona Western topped Mesa 6-1 on Saturday.
Donal Landrum put the Matadors (7-1 overall and Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) up 1-0 in the 20th minute. In the 30th minute, Mesa scored to tie the game — the first time AWC has given up a goal since Aug. 25, a stretch of five games.
Ten minutes into the second half Soto connected on an assist from Angel Figueroa to put the team ahead for good.
Arturo Valle added two goals for the Matadors, Eti Tavares had one and Andrew Reveles had the final AWC goal.
