Yuma's Javier Ortiz pitched a five-hit shutout for eight innings and Emiliano Fruto picked up his eighth save of the year as the Scorpions beat Long Beach 2-0 on Wednesday.

It is the first win for Ortiz (1-4) this season, who also struck out four Armada batters.

Ben Fox (3-1) went the distance for the Armada, also allowing just five hits.

Carlos Villalobos put Yuma (10-21) on the board in the second inning, doubling and scoring on a Carlos Arroyo single.

The Scorpions' other run came in the sixth when Deivis Rivadeneira drove in Diover Avila.

The two teams complete their three-game series tonight at 7 p.m.
