And the Law lost
By the time the Yuma Scorpions had given away some cash, the Chico Outlaws had given away the game.
The Scorpions scored 10 in the first inning to roll over the Outlaws 12-5 Saturday night at Desert Sun Stadium.
After the first inning of the game - the penultimate home game of the year - the Scorpions ran one of their "Baseball Bailout" promotions, where an airplane buzzes the stadium and drops money for the fans to keep.
And when that happened, the Scorpions already had a wealth of runs on the board.
Javier Ortiz (7-3) picked up the complete-game win for the Scorpions (17-18 second half, 24-45 overall), scattering 10 hits and striking out eight.
The Scorpions were effective in not stranding runners, managing to leave just three on. On Friday night, the Scorps banged out 19 hits in scoring 11 runs. Saturday, they had 11 hits but scored 12.
Seven Yuma players had hits. Diover Avila went 2-for-4 and scored twice, while Reynaldo Rodriguez had three hits. Jhonatan Lozada continued his torrid pace with two hits and score twice, while Adolfo Gomez drove in three.
Truan Mehl hit his fourth homer of the year for Chico (11-20, 30-39).
The Scorps look for a sweep of the series tonight at home before heading to Chico to face the Outlaws for three starting Tuesday.
