ON DECK: The streak ends
Well, it's over, ladies and gentlemen.
The Mariners' 10-game winning streak fell today after a 7-6 loss to the mighty Milwaukee Brewers.
Sure they still hit another two home runs, leaving their spring total at 26 in 12 games, but what does it really mean anymore? With another Kansas City Royal victory in the rearview mirror, that puts the Fightin' M's 1.5 games back of the perfect Royals.
I blame the loss on the momentum-killing off day they had Tuesday. Instead of continuing to know how to win, the Mariners forgot everything they knew about winning and remembered everything they'd forgotten about losing.
Let's face it, they're losers now like they've always been.
Soon the Angels and Rangers will slip and hit their heads on the kitchen counter and remember what it takes to be a winner and all will be right in the world of the American League West.
Until then, I'll go back to not caring about spring training at all.
