10 qualify for state championships

Ten Yuma-area junior golfers received invitations to the PGA Antigua Tour's state championship on Aug. 4-5 at Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott.

The 11-12 and 15-18 boys age groups had the most local qualifiers. Kody Fiser and Cameron Sharp will make their second appearance at the event along with Dawson Cox. The three older boys are Joey Pickels, Henry Canan and Collin Catron.

Grady Bourguignon is the seventh boy headed to the tournament in the 13-14 division. A former winner at the event, this will be his sixth time playing in the tournament.

Kayla Fiser will represent the 13-14-year-old girls for Yuma in Prescott, and past champion Mieke Canan also earned her fourth invite.

Lauren Metcalf, 8, is the youngest qualifier of the group in the girls 10-under division. She also qualified for the U.S. Kids Golf World Championships in Pinehurst, N.C. the same week.
