Sidewinders shine at state track meet
Comments 0 | Recommend 0PHOENIX - The other Gila Valley track team, the one in San Luis, posted remarkable times at the 5A-II state track meet last weekend at Desert Vista High.
The Sidewinders featured a sixth place finish from the 3,200-meter relay team of Aram Molina, Christian Vega, Luis Perez and Francisco Castorena, who finished in 8:25.
The competition at state also brought out the best in San Luis, with several runners setting school records. The girls 3,200 relay team - Lorena Guzman, Paulina Sanchez, Alma Contreras, Luz Lopez - set a record time of 10:48.
Lopez beat her own record in the 800 run with a time of 2:31, and Castorena finished his 1,600 run in 4:42.
