On Deck: Holmgren succeeds despite failures
I really wish that I could find a job in which I could run the business into the ground, squander millions of dollars and then be offered a promotion.
Sadly there are no opportunities like that available to me, but that doesn't mean there aren't any for others, like Mike Holmgren. Holmgren, the Seattle Seahawks' former head coach and GM just turned down a position with his former franchise for a "senior leadership role."
Though there's no concrete detail on what that entailed, Holmgren is still in consideration for a GM position with the Cleveland Browns.
I mean, he did so well in that role in Seattle where he drafted Lamar King (bust), Shaun Alexander (near bust), Koren Robinson (bust) and Jerramy Stevens (five-time convictee) with first-round picks.
His free agent signings were even better. There he picked up Ryan Leaf and Jeff George well past their primes, if you can call it that. He even managed to trade Ahman Green for Fred Vinson.
If the Browns need help making their team even more unwatchable, they've got the right guy.
