ON DECK: Playoff time is here

This week has quickly become my favorite week of the year.

Two words — playoffs, baby.

The football playoffs weren't too kind to Yuma this year, with just two teams getting in, and one team barely getting in as a 16 seed. But it's still the playoffs.
Besides, it's not just football. We had two teams in the volleyball playoffs as well.

And it's not just team sports. Swimming finals are Friday and Saturday. And the coup-de-gras for the Yuma area, the best shot a state title this fall (no offense to the Yuma Catholic football team) is Saturday, when Bernie Montoya takes to Cave Creek Golf Course in search of his third state cross country title.

If all that's not enough, there's also the AWC volleyball team, playing a region final today at home. And lest you have a short memory, the AWC soccer team just got done with its playoff run.

It doesn't last forever, but it's fun while it lasts.
