ON DECK: Suns face telling stretch
If the NBA season ended today, the Suns would be just 1/2 game out of a playoff spot.
Of course, if the playoffs started today, many people would be wondering why the league elected to play a 15-game schedule. Probably something to do with helping LeBron. But I digress.
Phoenix can pull to .500 with a win today at Detroit as its “Dregs of the East” rolls on. After starting with a loss at Philly — which is somehow 9-6 this year with its “best” player likely never to suit up for them — the Suns recovered with a win at Cleveland, then face the Pistons and then the Raptors. Combined record of Cleveland, Detroit and Toronto — 10-34. Things toughen up with stops in New York and Memphis before hosting Dallas and a quick jaunt to L.A. for the Clippers. Combined record of those four teams — 34-20.
Wins in the next two games proves the Suns are not pushovers. Going 2-2 in the tougher stretch may prove the Suns are a playoff threat.
