Yuma Velocity place third in Prescott tourney

The Yuma Velocity 14-U softball team finished third at a Best of the West Tournament in Prescott last weekend. Jackie Pierson and Isabel Villalobos each pitched a shutout game, and Madison Tracy hit a two-run home run as the Velocity went 6-3 and outscored their opponents 63-36.

"A big team effort by everyone," Velocity coach William Tracy said. "Some teams thought they had easy wins against us, but our young ladies proved them otherwise."

The team is looking for additional sponsors and players before its next tournament in August. Contact coach Tracy at 246-8002 for more information.
