ON DECK: Apocalypse watch

So, the world is supposed to end on Friday.

That sucks.

There was so much still on my list to do, like wanting to see the Western World Championships come to Cocopah Speedway.

And I wanted to take my wife to France and experience the sights and sounds of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

My wife and I also had watching the nighttime Sprint Cup race at Bristol on our to-do list.

I also wanted to see at least one Indianapolis 500 before I died or the world ended, and I wanted to see the Grand Prix of Monaco.

There was also a chance my longtime racing partner and I would revive our off-road endeavors and tackle one more wild ride down the Baja California peninsula.

But apparently all of that won't happen. So, in these final hours, I'll hunker down with the DVD player and instead drift away while watching the movies “Le Mans,” “Dust to Glory,” “Dirt” (the racing movie), “On Any Sunday” and “Stroker Ace.”
