PREP WRESTLING
Hawks sweep four-way
Gila Ridge went 3-0 in a four-way meet at Lake Havasu on Wednesday.
The Hawks defeated Parker 45-24, Lake Havasu 49-24 and Kofa 55-31, while the Gila Ridge junior varsity team went 4-0 in a five-way meet at the same location.
Nathan Mendevil (103), Abel Mejia (125), Alex Jordan (130), Isaac Saenz (140), Andy Meza (152), Kevin Jumbeck (160) and Juan Reyes (189) all went 3-0 for the Hawks.
Gila Ridge will be back in action this weekend at Holtville for an individual tournament.
Rams split at five-way
Antelope went 2-2 at a five-way meet at Camp Verde on Wednesday.
The Rams beat Shonto Prep 48-6 and Salt River 42-24, but lost to Camp Verde 74-6 and Wickenburg 42-27.
Kurtis Skousen (145) was the only Antelope wrestler to go 4-0 on the day. Chad Cullison (103) and Jason St. Clair (130) were 3-1. Antelope only had nine of 14 weight classes filled for the meet.
The Rams will compete in sectionals at Desert Edge High School in Goodyear starting Feb. 4.
PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL
YC comeback falls short
Yuma Catholic trailed by 14 in the second half, but made things close late in a 47-41 loss to Parker at the Shamrock gym on Wednesday.
Madison Brazeel has 17 points and seven assists, while Makena Zamora had 12 points.
