Last game: AWC hit 12 3-pointers in an 81-60 conference-opening win against Yavapai Wednesday at home. The Aztecs lost 93-90 to Cochise on the road Wednesday.
Records: AWC (3-1 overall, 1-0 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference); Pima (3-2, 0-1 ACCAC)
Player to watch: Matador freshman point guard Mitrell Clark had 11 points off the bench in Wednesday's win. ... Aztec guard JaMier Morris is the team's sharpshooter from outside with a team-best 11 treys this season.
The lowdown: The Matadors found their outside shooting touch against Yavapai's zone defense on Wednesday, and also cut down on their turnovers in the process. AWC's bench also accounted for 50 of its 81 points against the Roughriders as Clark, Zac Downing, Michael Craig and Adonis Souza had nine or more points. ...Pima only boasts one player on its roster taller than 6-foot-5, which should open things up for Andre Almeida to bounce back after his six-point performance on Wednesday. ...The Aztecs have proven they can rack up points, scoring 90 in four of their five games and at least 120 on two of those nights. Seven players are averaging in double figures. ...AWC swept the season series last year, the most recent an 88-65 win on Jan. 28 in Tucson.
