The San Luis baseball team ripped Gila Ridge 7-2 at home on Friday.
Gilberto Jimenez went 3-for-3 with a walk at the plate and struck out two when he came in for the save in the sixth. Edgar Valencia picked up the win pitching 5 2/3 innings while scattering five hits and striking out three.
Juan Martinez went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Daniel Solano went 2-for-3 for the Sidewinders.
San Luis (14-4, 3-0 GVR) travels to Cibola on Tuesday.
Yuma Catholic shuts out Horizon Honors
Brendon Evans went six innings, allowing six hits and striking out three for Yuma Catholic and the Shamrocks defeated the Eagles 8-0 on Friday at Phoenix-Horizon Honors.
Evans, who won the game on the mound, was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and three RBIs. Yuma Catholic's Eric Garcia and Josh Garcia were both 3-for-5 with an RBI.
