Francisco Urenda scored in the fourth minute of the game Tuesday as Cibola won 2-0 against Kofa, which entered the game fifth in AIA Power Points.
The Raiders, who started the night 22nd in power points with the top 16 making the soccer playoffs, added an insurance goal in the 50th minute. Edgar Gastelum kicked a long free kick, headed in by Joshua Garcia.
“We gave a great team effort,” coach Mike Fritz said. “We did a real good job of limiting Kofa's chances.”
Kofa coach Jamie Nicewander said Cibola outfouled Kofa 18-7 and that the Kings outshot the Raiders 12-3.
“It wasn't a must win (Tuesday), but now Thursday (against Yuma High) is a must win, or at least a must tie,” Nicewander said. “But me and my guys want to win every day, so it's disappointing from that perspective. And unfortunately we saw a lot of what we've seen all year, which is hack, hack, hack.”
Ordorica gets three assists in win
Raul Ordorica finished with a goal and three assists and Andres Elizalde scored three times in San Luis' 11-0 win at Lake Havasu.
Leo Moreno added two goals and two assists, while Javier Espinoza had two goals and an assist.
Penalty kick lifts Hawks
Gila Ridge scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick early in the second half in a 1-0 win against Yuma High.
Criminal coach Evan Chamberlain said his team had about 20 looks at goal but couldn't connect.
“Some were shots, some were balls that just danced in front of the net,” Chamberlain said. “It was just one of those days where it was better to be better lucky than good. Not for us, obviously.”

Smith leads Gila Ridge to fifth straight win
Sheridan Smith scored two goals a minute apart in a 4-2 win over Yuma High.
Smith scored on an assist from Celeste Diaz in the 18th minute and on a penalty kick in the 18th. The Criminals cut the lead to 2-1 in the 37th minute, but Katie Fretwell padded the lead back to two.
Daisy Rodriguez scored for Yuma High to make it 3-2 in the 49th minute, but Caroline Dufree got an insurance goal for Gila Ridge with six minutes left.
PREP BOYS BASKETBALL
Yuma Catholic routs Ajo
Grady Bourguignon had 14 points and seven rebounds as Yuma Catholic won at Ajo 73-16.
Carter Rodriguez had 11 points and eight assists, while Troy Mitchell had 14 points and eight rebounds.
PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL
Brazeel scores 28 for YC
Yuma Catholic kicked off a stretch of four games in four days with a 66-14 win at Ajo.
Madison Brazeel scored 28 and got five assists in the win. Lindsay Martin had 10 points and Makena Zamora had 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Shamrocks host the next three games in three days – San Pasqual today, River Valley Thursday and Parker Friday.
Cibola tops Perry
Alexis Evans grabbed 12 rebounds as Cibola topped Perry 40-31 in Gilbert.
Erica Baldenegro had 10 rebounds, while Baylee Lakey scored 14 to lead the Raiders.
Kofa crushes Yuma High
The Kofa girls basketball team jumped out to a huge first half lead and beat Yuma High 71-9 on Tuesday at home.
Kayla Cruz scored 18 and Sally Gastelo added 17 for the Kings, who led 41-3 at halftime.
