Brawley sweeps Yuma High
Yuma High had two boys and a girl win multiple events against Brawley Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as the boys lost 72-55 and girls lost 92-35.
Filomeno Munoz won first place in both the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs, David Stiles won the long jump at 19 feet 10 inches and the triple jump at 41-10 and Michelle Watson returned from an injury to three events. Watson won the long jump at 16-1, the triple jump at 32-5 and the high jump at 4-8.
“Michelle didn't run last week so she's back,” Yuma High coach Curt Weber said. “Her distances weren't as good as she wanted, but her effort was excellent. She's back on the track.”
The Criminals had three other boys earn first place. Chance Hamilton won the shot put at 42-10, Kody Jose won the discus at 117-0 and Arturo Vargas won the 400-meter run with a time of 52.38.
