NAU scramble approaching
The 20th Annual NAU Golf Classic Scramble will be played at the Desert Hills Golf Course on Nov. 10 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The Pioneer Title Agency sponsored tournament features a 2013 Hyundai Sonata vehicle sponsored by the Fisher Automotive Group. The DHWG played Odd Holes with one-half handicap on Oct. 23 at the Desert Hills Golf Course and Gloria Gentry won first place with a 32.5. Kathy Lauer took second Place with 35, third place went to Sue Henson, fourth to Lola Stone and the fifth place winner was Daphne Stone. The Skill shots were won by Connie Chapman, Diane William, Virginia Prieb and Lola Stone.
Winter league play has begun at the Foothills Golf Courses and Las Barrancas. Leagues for Women's play at the Par 3 on Tuesdays, at Las Barrancas on Wednesdays and at Foothills on Thursdays. Leagues for Men play at the Par 3 on Mondays, at Las Barrancas on Tuesdays, at Foothills on Wednesdays and again at Las Barrancas on Thursdays. A Couples Twilight Scramble is held every Wednesday at the Par 3. Call 342-7130 for additional information.
The Discount Dentist team won the Time Warner Media Customer Appreciation Day play at Las Barrancas. The winning team of Doug Brown, Ted Johnson, Steve Mueller and Starr Schulte won in Cart Wheel playoff when Starr completed 5 perfect cart wheels in a row. Dr. Doug Brown did not compete in the cartwheel playoff.
The annual weekly “Willies Couples Play” will start at Mesa Del Sol on Sunday, Nov. 11, with T-times starting at noon each Sunday. Players may call Willie Peterson at 305-9777 or the Mesa Del Sol pro shop at 342-1283 for entry or additional information.
In the Foothills Par 3 Men's League Bill Taylor won low gross with a 30, Rich Mastriano won low net. Mastriano, John Hayes and Tom Blose were on the winning team. In the Foothills Par 3 Women's League Jeanne Stout won low gross with a 31. Glenva Clark won low net. Stout, Clark, Madeline Witt and Sharon Dice were on the winning team. In the Foothills Par 3 Couples Twilight Scramble Sharon and Bob Selle teamed with Lenore and Rich Crutchfield for the win. In the Foothills Men's League Gene Reynolds won low gross with a 36, Bruce Bottorff won low net. Bottorff, Rich Wilcox, Bill Taylor and Bill Helm were on the winning team. In the Foothills Women's League Diana Bird won low gross with a 38, Sue Kirby won low net. Bird, Renee Helm and Donna Villa were on the winning team.
Raymond Pinky Throckmorton teamed with Ron Breault, Garry Sletten and Ed Ashby for 70 team pro power points to win first place in “Krogman's Follies,” played at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday morning. Second place went to the team of David Henager, Willie Peterson and Bill Vasey with 62 points.
Larry Grabowski, Chuck Holland, Marisa Turck and Diana Bird teamed for a scrambling even par 72 to win the weekly Moose Lodge #1627 play at Mesa Del Sol on Tuesday morning. Second place went to Jack Henson, Bud Hammond, Carol Johnson and Vern Cysenski.
Roy Krogman carried teammates John Molner, Ron Breault and Bill Beulke to a first place net finish in the Mesa Del Sol MGA weekly play on Friday morning with 59 team net points. Bill Slade, Lynn Thompson, Garry Sletten and Tom Mozley won second place net with 57 net points.
