Crims down Hawks
The Yuma High baseball team downed Gila Ridge 11-3 on Tuesday at Gila Ridge.
Pancho Gomez picked up the win for the Crims, going seven innings on the mound and had a three-run double.
Drew Chavez had two doubles with three RBIs for the Criminals, who had 20 base runners in the game. Billy Hunt was 2-for-2 with two walks for Yuma (8-3).
Gila Ridge's Michl Reyes and Irvin Elizarraras had two hits each. The Hawks (6-5) host San Luis on Friday in their first region game.
Yuma plays host to El Centro-Southwest today.
YC holds on
Yuma Catholic got 4-2/3 innings of scoreless relief out of Geraldo Robles in a 7-6 win over Palo Verde on Friday.
Palo Verde jumped up 3-0 in the first, but the Shamrocks (9-1) got those back in their half of the frame. They added four in the second, and Robles cruised into the sixth.
Starter Josh Evans struggled, giving way to Robles, but made up for it with a 2-for-3 day with a double and two RBIs.
Holtville routs Rams
A one-run game in the fourth got out of hand quickly for the Antelope baseball, which committed six errors and walked six more as Holtville put up 15 in the bottom of the fourth in a 17-1 Rams loss.
Holtville had just five hits in its fourth-inning outburst. Erick Hernandez and Colt Pelfry had the two Antelope hits.
