Kofa girls perfect in tri-meet
Lesly Salazar led the Kofa girls to a perfect finish in a tri-meet with Yuma Catholic and Yuma High at West Wetlands Park on Wednesday.
Salazar finished first overall with a time of 16:51 and was followed by five other Kings in second through for sixth place. Only the top five finishers for each team are counted so Kofa won the match with a perfect score of 15. Yuma Catholic took second with a score of 51 and Yuma High couldn’t field a full team to qualify for a finish.
Kofa’s Ruth Hanson took second and Maria Lopez took third. Yuma Catholic’s top finishers were Patricia Scholle and Louse Scholle in seventh and eight place, respectively.
Boys team scores were unavailable because of errors in score keeping, but Kofa’s Adam Spencer won the race with a time of 15:41. Yuma Catholic’s Nico Franco took second. Kofa’s Johnathan Carrillo and Roberto Salazar took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Hawks win three-way in Brawley
The Gila Ridge boys and girls teams won a three-way meet with Brawley and San Luis in Brawley on Wednesday. The race was on a 2.5 mile course.
The Hawks won the boys’ race with a score of 17 and were followed by San Luis with 51 and Brawley with 103. Gila Ridge’s Juan Marquez won the race with a time of 13:25 and was followed by teammates Jose Lopez and Jonathan VanDeberg in second and third, respectively.
The Hawks won the girls’ race with a score of 20 and were followed by Brawley with 45 and San Luis with 89. Gila Ridge’s Madison Haynes took first with a time of 15:46 and Melia Harman took second.
