Criminals beat Sidewinders after long delay

Yuma High defeated San Luis 2-1 in a game that started on Dec. 13 and ended Wednesday.

With 11 minutes to go in the first half, the game was called due to lightning and was resumed Wednesday exactly how they left off, with a San Luis throw in.

“It was a little bit weird for both teams,” said Yuma High coach Tom Coxson. “As they were warming up they were in a funk. It was hard to get them serious because they weren't starting from the beginning of the game. It took the girls on both teams a few seconds to get their bearings and figure out what was going on.”

Yuma High started the game with a 1-0 lead on a Daisy Rodriguez goal, but gave up a goal to the Sidewinders at the end of the first half. Daniela Angulo scored the go ahead goal off an assist from Eli Caro.
