Yuma 11-12 All-Stars beat Mohave Valley
Comments 0 | Recommend 0BLYTHE — Yuma Little League 11-12-year-old All-Stars used some late-inning offense to come back and beat Mohave Valley 7-3 Friday night in the District 9 All-Star Tournament.
Yuma (2-0) carried a 1-0 lead into the third before Mohave Valley (2-1) scored three runs to move ahead. That would be all the offense Mohave would get as Yuma's Roger Varela Jr. relieved Anthony Cordova and then allowed no runs in the final 3 1/2 innings.
Cordova made up for himself in the fourth by hitting a three-run homer as Yuma reclaimed the lead, 4-3.
Yuma's bats stayed hot in the fifth with a solo home run from Alfonso Barragan, his second of the tournament, and two additional runs came across later in the inning.
Yuma plays Kingman South at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Blythe.
