Crims finish second at Prison Break Invitational
Comments 0 | Recommend 0While Central ran away with the Prison Break Invitational, the Yuma High boys cross country team had a strong showing Saturday at West Wetlands Park.
The Criminals finished second in the boys division with 49 points to Central's 44. Gabe Torregrosa finished the course in 16 minutes and 16 seconds, four seconds off the pace of Central's Francisco Lemus.
Yuma's Cesar Villegas (16:56) was the only other Criminal to crack the top-10. Jose Guerrero and (17:21) and Santos Castro (17:30) were just outside finishing 11th and 12th, respectively.
Cibola (52) came in third, followed by Kofa (91) and Gila Ridge (133). The Raiders were led by Ryan Norton, who was fourth (16:28). Alan Fernandez (17:00) was eighth and teammates Ryan Grove (17:37) and Marco Ordino (17:37.5) were 13th and 14th, respectively.
The Kings Ricardo Valdez (16:57) was seventh. Joshua Segura (17:16) came in 10th for Gila Ridge. Both were the only runners from their respective teams to place in the top 15.
San Luis and Yuma Catholic did not have enough to field teams. They were led individually by the Sidewinders Fernando Garcia (17:02), who was ninth, and the Shamrocks Alyosha Sandigo (17:57), who was 17th.
