The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks shut down the Antelope Rams 49-7 at Ricky Gwynn Stadium. The game was the final matchup between the two rival coaches and friends, YC's Rhett Stallworth and Antelope's John Blabe before Blabe retires.
A little bit of the wet stuff didn't stop the Shamrocks Friday night as they won 49-0 over San Manuel in a Div. V first-round playoff game. Fans fought umbrellas while coaches and cheerleaders donned garbage bags and rain panchos to fight off rain.
As the Shamrocks head to Flagstaff for the state championship game, look back at Yuma Catholic's 51-15 win over San Tan Foothills last Saturday at Arcadia High School in Phoenix in a Division V semifinal.
The ladies of Yuma Catholic won over Arizona Lutheran, 51-41, with the Shamrocks junior Ashley Wirtzberger (#4) setting an all-time 3-point record in girls basketball in Arizona, making 340 shots so far in her career. Video by Ryan Brennecke
