Yuma firefighters responded to a fire that destroyed a mobile home at Windhaven R.V. Park around 10:20 a.m. A neighbor was burned while lighting a propane space heater for the owners who are expected in sometime today. Video by James Gilbert
Engineers at Yuma Proving Ground have developed a new system - the Blowing Air Dust and Sand System (BADSS) - which is capable of mimicking natural dust storms up to 60 mph. The BADSS system is used to test how equipment stands up to the elements.
A wildfire broke out Wednesday afternoon along the Colorado River just west of Mittry Lake. According to Rural Metro firefighters, on behalf of BLM, the fire has already burned at least 600 acres and is being fueled by windy weather.
