The overspent travel budget for the city of Yuma's mayor and city council was a hot topic at Wednesday's City Council meeting. The issue was added to the next city council agenda, but not without some heated words.
Yuma City Council members voted Wednesday not to pursue an investigation into allegations of misconduct by Mayor Al Krieger. The allegations were brought forward by former Mayor Marilyn Young at the first call to the public of 2012 on Jan. 8th.
Mayor Al Krieger requested a last-minute addition to the agenda for more travel funds for several upcoming meetings and events he wants to attend in the final weeks of the fiscal year, making for interesting discussion during Wednesday's meeting.
Alan L. Krieger was sworn in as Yuma's mayor Wednesday (1-6-10) with the help of his wife, Mary. Krieger formerly served a term as a city council member.
During call to the public, Marilyn Young, a former Yuma mayor, stated her grievances with current Mayor Al Krieger. Young accused Krieger of conflict of interest, violating the city charter and abusing his position.
