A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday (3-29-11) at the site of the Yuma Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Division's new Aviation Maintenance and Operations Center.

Approximately 88 members of the Harrier squadron that lost its commanding officer and the aviation support unit that lost one of it’s fellow Marines to an insurgent attack on their base in Afghanistan returned to friends and family in Yuma Thursday.

More than 50 gifts - including new clothing, shoes, toys and bicycles - were delivered to the Salvation Army for its Christmas Angel Tree program. Santa, who was escorted by deputies from the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, helped deliver.

The 20-acre City of Yuma Public Safety Training Facility is home to a 'burn' building, where firefighters can train near real flames. The building also has interchangable walls which can be instantly converted for any scenario for police or fire use.
