Impella pump helps hearts

This little device, called an Impella, pumps blood from the left ventricle to the aorta during surgery, allowing the heart to rest. It's use allows those with hearts previously deemed to be too weak to undergo surgery to have procedures done.

YRMC: New operating rooms
