NIE Newspapers in Education

The NIE Newspapers in Education Program provides newspapers to local classrooms for use by teachers and students to enhance their learning experience.

NIE Serves 150 Classrooms with and average of 25 studens throughout the school year.

NIE also serves Adult Literacy Program.

NIE Gives teachers acess to newspapers and digital access to the newspaper as well.

Newspaper use in the classroom increases student awareness about their community and the world around them.

Studies show NIE students can receive better achievement scores in Social Studies, Languare Arts, and Math!

NEWSPAPERS ARE LIVING TEXTBOOKS.... 

This amazing program helps students develop critial thinking skills, concern for public issues, and shows real-world scenarios teaching life lessons.

Students in NIE program can take Newspapers home to share with the family and complete newspaper homework assignments.

NIE is more than just a newspaper in the classroom... Staff of Yuma Sun speak in classrooms and provided tours of the newspaper that teach students how the paper is made.

NIE is funded locally with donations.
