COVID-19 grant relief funds from ACF

Veronica Shorr (right), regional coordinator for the Arizona Community Foundation, presents $20,000 in grant relief funds to Kari Tatar, director of development for the Humane Society of Yuma. When the pandemic hit, operations at the shelter changed significantly for every aspect of services. The clinic was closed to the public, walk-in vaccine clinics were closed to the public and surgeries became very limited to the public. These were some streams of funding that keep the shelter operating and Yuma’s homeless pets safe. These grant funds will provide more pet food, pet supplies and medical care to HSOY clients during the coronavirus outbreak. The community continues to suffer right now — especially families that already had limited access to pet care resources. HSOY is here to assist fellow Yuma County residents and their pets and is grateful to Arizona Community Foundation for a grant that will provide more support during this crisis.
